Bangkok, June 14, 2022 – dzcard, the leading secured smart card solution and digital security provider in South-East Asia, has been chosen by Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) to deploy its very first Visa card with fast, convenient, and secure contactless EMV capabilities. The card was customised to meet the Visa specifications as dzcard is the only Visa and Mastercard-certified card personalisation centre in Tanzania.
With the new Popote Visa Card, TCB, one of Tanzania's largest banks, will offer consumers the chance to access an international shopping experience by unlocking global functionalities and services provided by the Visa network, wherever locally or abroad.
The launch of TCB's Popote card official signs the debut of an internationally accepted electronic payments card in the market by TCB. It supports the broader efforts of the bank to contribute to the country's aspiration to encourage the move to a cashless society.
dzcard has a long-standing relationship with TCB, and this collaboration will place the bank at the forefront of the country's fast-developing payment market. With most consumers still on the local scheme "Umoja", the deployment of Visa cards will boost the adoption of international payment card schemes in the country.
"We have chosen dzcard to manufacture and personalised our first Visa card based on the trust that has been built by the continuous dedication of their team based in Tanzania," said Jema Msuya, Director of Technology and Operations, Tanzania Commercial Bank. "dzcard is fully supporting TCB's commitment to introducing the latest solutions that meet the demands of our customers for a more seamless shopping experience."
"This customised card is in line with dzcard's approach to consistently suit its technologies to the very specific needs of local markets," said Christiaan Wielenga, Managing Director dzcard Tanzania. "The logical next step is to champion and promote responsible and innovative digital payment solutions that are more convenient, safe, and offer better money management options in Tanzania."
